*This improvement initiative was under the supervision of TAMAM coaches in the University of Princess Noura.
The lead team in the elementary division in Princess Noura University School found that there was a weakness in the mathematical skills of students in grade 4. This issue was reflected in teacher’ complaints of students’ indifference and their weak results on the achievement tests. The team did an action research cycle to get evidence on the problem through analyzing data collected from the tests and questionnaires of students and parents. After that, they defined the improvement need to be “improving students’ achievement in solving mathematical operations”. The improvement project focused on changing and establishing a correct learning culture in the mathematics of fourth grade students through planning enriching programs to provide them with analytical reasoning and problem solving skills. However, the work of the team was suspended before they could start developing their improvement plan.
