The TAMAM team at Bishop School has noticed that in grade 8, as the boys start their teenage years, there is a reflection of that development on their achievement, behavior and even attitudes. The team realized that by grade ten, the students settle down, but only after a lot of effort and agony on the part of the school staff and the students themselves. In most cases, they turn out alright and they pick up and do very well in their secondary school studies, and some also develop leadership qualities and turn out as wonderful young men, however, a few of them lose out and do not achieve their full potential.
The objective of the TAMAM team project is to investigate what goes on in grade eight and what can be done in order to make sure that teachers provide the optimum atmosphere for teaching and learning, taking into consideration what the students are going through physically. In a way, this will be a reflection on what teachers do to engage the students at a critical age. The TAMAM team also envisages that this project will move with the students to grade nine next year.
