In line with the objectives of the agreement signed between the TAMAM Project and Al-Bayan Bilingual School in Kuwait, the TAMAM Steering Team, represented by Dr. Rima Karami, Project Director, and Ms. Rula Al-Katerji, Project General Coordinator, organized their second and final visit to Kuwait for this academic year from May 24 to May 26, 2024.

On May 25, the team members conducted the fourth and final session of the CEDU 200 course, titled “Challenges that May Face School-Based Development Initiatives.” Participants were trained in dialogue competence and reflective practice within this unit. Approximately 37 participants from Al-Bayan Bilingual School in Kuwait, including teachers and heads of departments teaching in Arabic, participated in this training.

During this unit, participants learned about the challenges that may face the launch of school-based development initiatives and the strategies that can be adopted to address these challenges, viewing the school as an integrated institution with organizational, human, political, and conceptual dimensions affected by any changes affecting the school. Participants worked in groups during the session on reflective thinking activities using dialogue competence and reflective practice when considering challenges and necessary strategies to address them. Participants expressed interest in deeper and broader engagement with the TAMAM model as a motivation for leading development in the coming year.

The meeting concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants and a celebration marking the completion of the course, offered in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education and the Department of Education at the American University of Beirut and the TAMAM Project.

It is noteworthy that this course, with its four units presented to participants this year, serves as a preparatory stage before actual engagement in the TAMAM program to build leadership capacities for development, supported by educational trainers at the school.

On May 26, the TAMAM Steering Team held several meetings, including sessions with educational trainers, heads of middle and high school departments, as well as with heads of Arabic language departments at the school to discuss how to continue building leadership capabilities for school-based development within Al-Bayan Bilingual School. They also discussed with the Deputy Director of the school, Mr. Paul Saied, the TAMAM work axes in the school to expand its leadership repository in the coming year.
