The 12th TAMAM Gathering opened on February 9, 2024, with remarks from the event sponsor, Her Royal Highness Princess Samia bint Al Hassan; Jordanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah; President of the American University of Beirut, Dr. Fadlo Khuri; Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the university, Dr. Fares Dhadha; and Chair of TAMAM’s Advisory Board, Dr. Sally Turkie.
Dr. Rima Karami, Associate Professor and Principal Researcher in TAMAM Project, and Head of the Education Department at the university, delivered the opening address. Dr. Karami welcomed attendees, thanked project supporters, and acknowledged TAMAM’s professional educational network members who have entrusted and engaged with TAMAM in its journey of research and reflection. She also expressed gratitude to the current TAMAM steering team for advancing TAMAM’s learning journey and accomplishments, continuing to shoulder its responsibilities.
During her speech, Dr. Karami presented TAMAM’s vision and explained the concept of “educational movement” and the significance of partnerships, particularly the professional network. She elaborated on the rooted perspective and its relationship with educational reform.
The gathering included a series of engaging sessions and discussions with over 250 participants, including practitioners, school leaders, researchers, and TAMAM network members from more than 35 educational institutions across 9 Arab countries.
