Dr. Hanadi Diya, specialist in language acquisition and its impact on learning and teaching Arabic, delivered the keynote address during the first day of the 12th Tamaam Conference. She shed light on the Arab learner and their centrality in educational reform, emphasizing the influential role of teachers in shaping learners. She called for their involvement in educational decision-making and empowerment to execute these decisions. Additionally, she presented an initiative for the development of Arabic language education within the Tamaam Schools Network in Jordan as a model of educational initiatives that observe and originate from the characteristics of the learner.
Following this session, a panel discussion included representatives from schools participating in the Arabic language project: Ms. Mona Abdullah, Arabic Language Department Coordinator at Al-Bayan School; Ms. Fatenn Ziyadat, Educational Consultant and former Head of the Arabic Language Department at Al-Baccalaureate School in Amman; Dr. Mohammed Al-Khabbaz, Arabic Language Coordinator at Modern Schools; and Ms. Renee Mazahreh, Arabic Language Department Coordinator at Al-Muamaniyah School. The session focused on empowering teachers and highlighted the experiences of teachers in a training camp, resulting in a characterization of the Arab language learner. The participants discussed these characteristics and explored the concept of teacher empowerment and its impact on the development and learning of Arabic language.
