Under the auspices of the Ministry of education in Jordan, the AUB TAMAM Project Steering Team (PST) organized its 11th gathering titled “TAMAM as an Educational Change Movement: Toward Building Professional Learning Communities to Enhance Student Learning” which was held in Amman, Jordan from 20 till 22 of May, 2016 at the Landmark Hotel.
The gathering comprised of three themes. The theme of the first day was “Promoting Student Learning through School Improvement”. It included a main session under the title “The Role of Reflection as a Credible Evidence for Promoting Student Learning” in addition to parallel sessions about “The Needed Skills for the Learning Process and Learning”. The second day’s theme was “Reinforcing Collaboration and Building Learning Communities for an Effective School-Based Reform”. The main session entailed “Mediation and Dialogue as the Basis for School-Based Reform” and parallel sessions followed under the titles “The Needed Skills to Build Learning Communities” and “TAMAM Experiences and Lessons Learned during the School-Based Reform Journey”. The last day of the gathering was themed “Toward Institutionalizing and Sustaining School-Based Reform”. The main session discussed “Modifying the Organizational Structure and the Educational Policies to Support and Activate Development and Sustainability” and following parallel sessions talked about “Approaches to Build and Modify Organizational Structures: Promising Field Experiences”.
During the gathering, there were sessions comprising of discussion groups; some of which discussed and identified the profile of a TAMAM student, while others worked on exchanging the experiences of the participating teams in school improvement initiatives which were also presented in Poster exhibitions. The gathering was concluded in a reflection session to set future prospects for TAMAM as a Movement for school-based improvement.
